INTRO
I’m an exceptionally fast-learning, pattern-seeking, and complexity-wrangling problem solver.

A product designer with both technical and business backgrounds, I connect dots and produce rectangles that deliver great experiences for good people.

With 13+ years experience creating in the digital space, I've helped dozens of clients design, build, and implement end-to-end solutions across many industries, contexts, and scales. Most recently, I’ve been tackling enterprise-level challenges & responsibly leveraging AI tools with cautious, conscientious optimism at my tech consulting job.

Resourceful, curious, and stoked to get in the weeds (code), I lead clients and teams through the fog/smoke/mysterious ether with an end-to-end, collaborative, cross-functional approach that is adaptable, honest, and emotionally intelligent, creating actionable clarity rooted in facts and feasibility.

SOME THINGS ABOUT ME

  • I’m exceptional at untangling and understanding highly technical domains & enterprise-sized challenges, unafraid to ask clarifying questions, and great at getting folks on my teams confidently up to speed with findings.

  • A volunteer outdoor educator, (mostly) self-taught developer, business graduate, and artist, I’ve got a vast, diverse knowledge base and an outstanding lateral thinking capability.

  • I ask a lot of questions, have a great radar for important nuances, cultural factors, linchpin details, normalized idiosyncrasies, and smart workarounds that lead toward pivotal insights and wise reprioritizations of efforts.

  • Perceiving the larger scope of behavioural, cultural, historical norms and heuristics in a problem space is just as important as technical facts. This context is essential for managing adoption, change, and product viability.

  • Equal parts Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner and sometimes Samantha, I am happy to step up, step back, lead or be led. As a “strong opinions loosely held” type person, I can appear ready to die on a hill, but I have no issues rolling down when given some new info or solid rationale.

    • Big fan of OOUX (Object Oriented UX) approaches for structuring information architecture, content, and taxonomy to create well-formed requirements, ASAP, that make sense and are accessible, understood, and useful to technical, business, design and civilian stakeholders.

    • I’m all about crafting the right artifacts, workshops, copy and fidelities for the job, ensuring the right story is being told. A strong presenter, facilitator, and natural leader, I’m proud of my ability to build bridges, create alignment, and have fun, too.

    • I’m solidly in the “form follows function” camp - designing UI is fun, but I believe in solving for flow, content needs, and information architecture before attempting to give shape to requirements.

    • I’m cautious but curious about emerging technologies and love to play around in emergent spaces (e.g. AI-assisted-engineering for prototyping and specific tasks is cool, but I don’t think it’s a replacement for proper design, engineering, devOps, quality, product research, or strategy... yet?

    • I consider Slack usage a very big, green flag for a company’s design values.

    • I like cycling, analog stationery & journalling, vinyl record enjoying, am an Eagle Scout, meditator, crafter, coffee appreciator (in a chill way) and love extremely dark forests, big rocks, and staring at bodies of water.

While I am currently employed FT and not taking sideprojects,
I am always curious to hear about opportunities I may be a fit for.
